Unseen is a first-person exploration game where players uncover the mysteries of a fantastical island inhabited by creatures beyond perception.

Unseen is built around a single, elusive guardian rather than a menagerie of cryptids, so we focused our design on one mascot-like creature whose very presence embodies the island’s hidden magic. Early on, we sketched eight to ten different beasts, but this breadth diluted the sense of wonder; we needed one unforgettable spirit.

The final design blends lupine and big-cat proportions for a form that feels wild yet approachable: lean, graceful limbs hint at silent strength, while softened facial features invite empathy. To root it in the island’s living ecosystem, we wove natural, plant-inspired elements into its anatomy.

Elusive by nature, it slips between shadows and only reveals itself when they player takes a picture of him, turning the act of finding it into a memorable, almost sacred discovery rather than a simple objective.

Some other concepts for Unseen

This is the final creature from my final-year project at Rubika:
